Enlighten Up is a resting place on our collective trip through this particular world at this particular time. It is inevitably going to generate more questions than answers, but that’s the whole point of enlightenment, right? No solutions, only transformations. A place for feeling feelings (sometimes more than one at a time). Balance, coming back to the moment, experiencing what is directly in front of us. Gaining perspective by bravely looking through the eyes of others. Turning poison into medicine. Finding a place to learn, grow, and rest in community before heading back out into our lives, a little more oriented and a little more enlightened.
If it were a real place, it would have windows like La Segrada Familia with the afternoon light coming through, or the Ellsworth Kelly chapel. There would be resting places, standing places, pacing places, sheltering places, and watchtower places. Any walls that are found there are to be drawn and written upon. Lots of room to play and try things out. Grass to sit and sleep on and stages to overtake. But also safety, kindness, understanding. I am creating this space for all of us and name Compassion and Grace the rulers. There are too many things we must confront, wrestle, grieve, submit to, conquer, and comprehend for there to be any other Way in our space.
There will be other writers adding to the content of the space, leaving their marks as they pass through.
There will be links to other fabulous minds and their work.
There will be art, photography, music, lyrics, and poetry.
There will be talk of different perceptions of G-d and humans together. And science. Lots of science.
Helping each other out in this particular world at this particular time.
I welcome you into EnlightenUp and ask you for your compassion and grace as it becomes what it is meant to be. I ask that you show those same kindnesses to all the beings you encounter here. It is a space safe to confront and challenge ourselves and each other, but always, always with compassion. This compassionate heart will also block the fuck out of trolls and bullies.
